"HOTEL DE PARIS "- A UNIT OF WESTERN HOTELS (P) LTD.

In furtherance of our plan to set up a chain of hotels, a beginning was made by the Indiana Group with the acquisition of a Heritage hotel, viz., "Hotel De Paris" in Varanasi, which is one of the few hotels established in India about a century ago.

"Hotel de Paris" is an existing 3 star hotel approved by the Department of Tourism, Government of India, which bears a palatial look. It has been short listed by the Government of India for award of the "Heritage" category. Despite its having been refurbished thoroughly to meet international tourism standards, it retains its old charm and grandeur, with its imposing building complex of the Victorian Era built in 1895 in a sprawling ten acre area of land amidst a mango orchard, located on the exclusive Mall at Varanasi Cantonment. Facilities, such as Indian Airlines booking office, Government of India Tourist office and branches of main banks, exist in proximity to the hotel. A branch of the State Bank of India is housed in two rooms of the Hotel which at present stand allotted for providing tourism-related services to the inmates of the hotel.

The hotel is situated well away from the congestion of the old city but at the same time conveniently located on account of its proximity to the Cantonment railway station and being nearest to the airport amongst the reputed hotels in Varanasi. For traveling by road to destinations like Lucknow, Allahabad and carpet weaving centre of Bhadoi & Mirzapur, one does not have to face the rigors of passing through the crowded streets of the town.

The hotel has 44 well-furnished rooms equipped with air-conditioning and telephone facilities, and television in the lounge. There are three shops, a Banquet Hall Conference Room, Bar, Restaurant and Coffee-shop etc.

Plans are also afoot to put up a resort at a site of 8 acres of land at Sripermurdur where former Indian Prime Minister, Late Sh. Rajeev Gandhi, breathed his last.
